My answer to What would be the effect of America investing their entire military budget in healthcare/small busines…
Answer by Ken Larson:
Monumental improvement in infrastructure, health and employment would occur if we invested only 25% of our military budget in what you have described. We need to have national defense, but you are referring to amounts that have exceeded $800 Billion annually in recent years and are currently planned in excess of $600 Billion.
We sell too many weapons of warfare to other countries.
Many find their way into to wrong hands, as evidenced by the horrendous misuse and abuse of our weapons in the Middle East.
U.S. sales of conventional weaponry worldwide through a Pentagon agency totaled about $40 billion in 2015.
However, the $40 billion was only a fraction of the more than $200 billion in arms estimated to have been sold separately by U.S. defense firms in 2015 under commercial licenses.”
We and our large defense companies who are experiencing the best years in their history need to understand that military victory is dead.
Other solutions are far more productive and the technology “Bang for the Buck” must be directed to areas like U.S. infrastructure, education and medical care.
Here is a way to get there: Take out the fat in our military budget:
