I gather from your question that you intend to form a company and offer services B2B and other venues and not contract as a single individual.
That strategy alone has a great impact on your market research.
Talented free lancers often wish to grow independently as individuals and face difficulties in doing so. Many have service and product development skills of value but few succeed without forming a company and beginning to view their objectives as an enterprise instead of a single person entity.
For stability, growth, cash flow, industry reputation and partnering, past performance consideration and economics don’t think as a single individual free-lancer. Brand your company and not yourself and think bigger than you are in terms of involving others in your operations to best position your supplies and services.
A. Consider first your talents and affinities (what you are good at).
B. Consider next a field in which you would enjoy running an enterprise for an extended period.
C. Combine A & B, above with a business concept, idea or vision and give it the following test:
1. Do you have a product or service niche in mind?
2. Do you believe you have a market for 1 above and the means to reach it?
3. Are you willing to develop a business plan using the tool kit linked below to validate 1 and 2 above before you launch?If the answer to the above questions is yes than take the actions indicated, observe the results, then make an informed decision on whether or not to proceed.
