My answer to Are US soldier used like a tool by the government?

Answer by Ken Larson:

The citizens of the U.S. know that soldiers of the armed forces go where their leaders, the elected representatives of the people, order them to go and conduct missions they are ordered to achieve. They take an oath to do so and many die under that oath.

What you are really questioning is not the soldier, but the authorities who dispatched the soldier and well you should:

Costs of US wars linger for more than 100 years

I, for one, do not appreciate being thanked for my service. The statement rings quite shallow:

Please Don’t Thank Me for My Service
